WHAT WE DO
Koi Pond is a hui of people who love Hawaiʻi Island and gather to explore economic, environmental and social issues that affect quality of life for all who live here. Motivated by a sense of gratitude for our island community, it has evolved into a valuable collaboration between citizens and the County government, committed to achieving meaningful impact in advancing workforce development. The Koi Pond invites its supporters to contribute both tax deductible donations as well as their time and expertise to produce measurable benefits to our community. In just over two years, we have raised close to $900,000 to support our programs.
OUR VISION
We envision a Hawaiʻi Island that exhibits leadership in sustainable practices, where generation after generation of keiki can thrive locally, supported by a diversified, growing economy and have access to quality and affordable housing.
OUR MISSION
Koi Pond Bridges supports non-profit entities which foster economic growth and job opportunities on Hawai'i Island. By offering young residents more in-depth training, mentorship and exposure to career paths, these organizations will enable them to obtain high-value jobs in various on-island industries. In addition, KPB supports programs for young businesses to manage and thrive. Our goal is to ensure that future generations can not only remain, but truly prosper on Hawai'i Island.
HOW WE ENGAGE
We differ from other grantors by doing our own research, reviewing before selection and then providing financial support. Each recipient is assigned a Koi Pond Mentor(s) who closely tracks progress and provide both strategic and tactical support. In that way, the organization not only receives needed funding but also is able to take advantage of our skills and experience to ensure even greater success in their efforts.
